When it comes to versatile, reliable, and efficient trailers, Air-tow offers a range of models designed to meet different hauling needs. Whether you are transporting heavy machinery, sensitive equipment, or bulk goods, understanding the loading capacities and unique features of each Air-tow model will help you choose the right trailer for your requirements.

How to decode the Air-tow model names:

Each model is named based on what the trailer is, its bed length, and its weight capacity. The meaning behind the letters is S for single axle, T for tandem axle, N for narrow, E for enclosed, G for gooseneck, 3D for drop-deck and dump, DH for dock height, and Z for ZERO°. The first number is the trailer bed’s length in feet. Sometimes, the bed length can be longer, but it always starts with this first number. The second number is the weight capacity that the trailer holds in pounds. For example, the S8-35 model is [...]

Air-tow Trailers offer customers a choice between rubber and air suspension systems. Both options excel in ensuring cargo safety and reducing strain on the trailer frame, but they cater to different needs and preferences. Understanding the benefits of each can help you make an informed decision on which to choose.

Rubber Suspension

For over two decades, Air-tow has relied on the durability and performance of rubber suspension systems. These systems utilize floating axles mounted in heavy-duty roller bearings. One of the distinctive features of rubber suspension is its ability to adjust stiffness based on the pressure applied. As more pressure is exerted, the suspension stiffens, effectively handling severe shock loads even at maximum capacity. This characteristic significantly minimizes the force transmitted to the trailer frame and the cargo, ensuring a smoother ride.

Compared to traditional leaf springs, rubber suspension stands out due to its smooth ride quality and lack of wearing components. Air-tow backs its rubber [...]

Air-tow’s commitment to creating a safe work environment is evident in the trailers’ construction. Beyond standard safety components such as a breakaway switch, steel deck, and tie-downs, Air-tow trailers are equipped with additional features that make them safer than the average trailer. Air-tow deliberately designs each model to reduce hazards with unique and enhanced trailer features. Here are five additional safety features that Air-tow Trailers provide as a standard for all models.

 Ground-Level Loading

Traditional trailers often require ramps for loading and unloading, which can cause potential risk. Ramps pose the danger of equipment slipping or tipping over during loading, leading to possible injuries or damages. Air-tow Trailers eliminate this risk by offering ground-level loading, allowing for safe and easy loading and unloading. Ground-level loading is accomplished by a hydraulic system that enables the bed to be lowered flush to ground level when loading and unloading and raised when towing.

The Dock Height trailer is a durable and versatile trailer solution. Similarly to all Air-tow Trailer models, the DH-10 lowers flush to the ground, enabling ground-level loading. Unlike the other models, the DH-10 can also provide dock height solutions. The one-of-a-kind Air-tow Drop-Deck and Dock Height trailer raises 5 feet (60”) high, allowing users to load and unload their equipment or materials at dock height. The trailer has an easy-to-use hydraulic system that lowers and raises the height of the bed. The bed will raise or lower with the push of a button on the remote control conveniently located in the power compartment. The deck is 3/16” diamond-cut steel plate. The steel is thicker than average trailers, ensuring it will not warp over time. The trailer weighs 5,700 lbs. with an 8,000 lbs. towing capacity, equivalating to a GVWR of 13,700 lbs. The DH-10 is the ideal trailer for those who frequently travel between a [...]

The low-clearance design of scissor lifts makes transporting them a major challenge. With its durable build and innovative ground-level loading technology providing safety and efficiency, Air-tow Trailers is the ultimate scissor lift trailer. Air-tow is the perfect solution for transporting various brands of scissor lifts, such as JLG, Genie, Skyjack, Haulotte, and Snorkel.

The Challenge of Loading Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts are commonly used in many industries. They are known for their ability to provide stable and elevated work platforms. However, transporting them can cause major challenges because of their structure. They are low to the ground and often have small wheels. Traditional loading methods involving ramps or tilt beds can be hazardous. Ramps create steep angles that can tip the scissor lift over, especially during the loading and unloading process. Additionally, the uneven weight distribution on ramps increases the risk of accidents.

 Tires

Proper tire pressure: Maintain the correct pressure to avoid premature wear and ensure optimal performance. Over-inflation can cause center wear, while under-inflation leads to edge wear. Check your tire pressure regularly.

Wheel Balance: Ensure proper wheel balance to prevent cupping wear patterns. Incorrect toe-in can cause toe wear, indicating the need for alignment.

Avoid Overloading: Be sure your load does not exceed the axle rating to prevent side [...]
